"Hi, I'm gay (I always like to get that out in the open first) and want to know could an Olympic gymnast be a pro bodybuilder and a pro bodybuilder become an Olympic gymnast?"
I gave up on that one but I could see where he was coming from. What's your take on that question? _________________ If a man can lift a 450lb for ten reps, does that mean he could lift 4,500lbs for one rep? If so, I'd like to interview him! |

| Hey WFF!
My take on this is that a person can be anything they choose to be. (Of course this is restricted to inanimate objects and animals lol, but hey, if you want to be a caterpillar, more power to ya!) The homosexual portion of the statement is a fine example of this. Being gay is a personal choice much of the time (keep in mind that there have been many studies that have shown that childeren born with certain perdetermined disorders such as LTS which is also known as Low Test Syndrome, are genetically predisposed to being gay. There are a few others, but the names escape me at the moment.) It's a choice of lifestyle, much like bodybuilding is.
As for the gymnast>bodybuilder/gymnast<bodybuilder portion of the statment, my response to the gay section can be referenced to this as well. A person can be whatever they want to be. It has certainly been shown that male/female gymnasts must be VERY strong to do what they do (eg. Iron Cross, Back-flips, Handstands, etc.) and a bodybuilder makes a living on being strong and conditioned. If you were to watch the Olympic Men's Gymnastic division, you'll see a ton of incredibly strong and sculpted men competing in it. Sure, a gymnast tries to slim down a bit and get more toned, but how is that any different from a pre-contest diet in a BB show? Bodybuilders have incredible genetics as well as determination. It's a "can't have one without the other" situation.
Gymnastics is an INCREDIBLY disciplined sport and requires hours of hard work and dedication...sound like another sport?
So, to make a long story short, yes. Yes, a Olympic Gymnast can be a Bodybuilder and visa-versa.
Cheers,
